A webring is a series of sites on a common topic that are linked in a "circle" by software, a database, and a few basic link commands. Anitra's Colony of the Web covers a lot of topics. I have joined a lot of webrings.
The oldest ring host is Webring. There are a number of others, the best of which (in my opinion) are Ringsurf and Ringlink. Most of the rings I have joined are on Webring, because I have found that system the easiest to manage; some of them are on Ringsurf. Many of my friends are very enthusiastic about Ringlink. I have just joined my first Ringlink ring.
I usually put Webring navigation code on a page containing content relevant to that ring. The Colony is big, however, so I have created this as a central map to the location of each ring page.
Whether or not you came in on a ring, these are great places to visit as you leave here.
